Member Of The Month – Rick Ellis

Congratulations on being our male member of the month.

Rick is an integral part of our team. Not only is he always around having a laugh with the crew but he is also our resident handy man. If anything needs doing Rick always offers up his services. We would be lost without him.

Rick has improved so much since joining M Squared. His technique and endurance is a million times better. He has always been crazy strong though….we cant take credit for that! Ha Ha!

Read all about Rick’s journey here.

M – How long have you been doing CrossFit?

R – Just under two years but taking it more seriously in the last ten months since joining M Squared.

M – What class time do you usually attend and why does that work for you?

R – I usually do the 5pm just for the fact it works with traffic to and from the gym. It used to be quiet with just me and Karl but then I think we must have attracted all the ladies because now its really busy. Also I cant bear to be aware from Klare Osborne  😉

M – What is your why? Why do you put yourself through it each day? Do you have goals you want to achieve?
R –  Suppose I do it solely for the fitness….and the banter. 😉 It’s good to keep pushing yourself and trying to get better. Im also working on perfecting my technique at the minute as I want to be the best I can be and just being strong doesn’t cut it anymore.
M – What advice would you give anyone wanting to start CrossFit but is either unsure or nervous? We get people all the time saying they need to get fit first or they could never do what we do? Any advice for those people?

R – Just turn up and try it. Yeah it might be daunting walking in but you will soon realise there is nothing to worry about or be scared of. There are people of all abilities, ages, shapes and sizes and everything is scaleable. There are no egos at M Squared and nobody judges you…..Apart from Andy Morley 😉
Everyone wants you to do well and members always help and support each other. The coaching team are pretty decent too! 😉
M –  What is your biggest achievement so far in CrossFit and what are you most proud of?

R – I suppose like most people getting a ring muscle up is a big one. I managed to do my first ones last week. So I suppose you could say I’ve completed CrossFit. 😉
I hate running and recently I’ve been pushing myself to run. I’ve even been doing the CrossFit Endurance classes so that’s a pretty big achievement for me.

M – Thanks for being such a superstar.
